About Me

Hi all! My name is Anna Sturgeon and I am a Graphic Designer & Photographer who is currently based in Highland, Michigan.  I will graduate from the University of Michigan Flint with a bachelor’s in Graphic Design in 2026.  After entering college I realized I already had a base knowledge of Graphic Design from which to jump off.

When I was younger I had the experience of moving houses a total of 8 times, which surprisingly helped in my understanding of graphic design.  From packing and unpacking with a multitude of items on a time limit I learned about project management and organization from having to have the house packed by a certain time and unpacking in a timely manner so there are not boxes sitting around.  A strong work ethic was formed from disassembling and reassembling furniture and performing home renovations then seeing the fruits of my labor.  I was also able to gather a sense of design and space from arranging the furniture in houses with differing layouts to achieve a sense of feng shui.  While moving gave me a solid foundation for the basics of Graphic Design, there is one event that gave me a start in photography: a cactus wedding.

While I was in highschool, we had periods of free time to socialize called Advisory in which the students ended up forming a classroom culture.  My advisory had a complex lore revolving a student and an inflatable cactus where the cactus eventually “proposed” and the answer was yes.  I then proceeded to lead my classmates in throwing a fabulous “wedding” complete with rival class sabotage, beautiful moments, cake, and betrayal.  In planning this event, I gained a deep understanding of communication, project management, time management, coordination of a group of people, designing of a physical space, and began photography through photographing the event with the images turning out spectacularly.  I unfortunately lost my photos but the memory remained in the school’s mind for a long while afterwards.

Since then, I knew I wanted to enter the artistic career of Graphic Design & Photography.
